DAR provides P1.3 Million-worth of machineries to farmer-groups in Sultan Kudarat

 

Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, Sept. 17 – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) turned over machineries to agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations in Sultan Kudarat last September 16, 2020, under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support (CRFPS) Project of the department, aimed to mitigate the effects of climate change and increase the income and livelihood of the beneficiaries.

According to Rodolfo T. Alburo, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II of DAR Sultan Kudarat, the machineries included 1 unit 35.5 hp tractor, rice reaper, coffee grinder and hand tractor with trailer.

He added that the P1.3 million worth of machineries will be benefitted by 3 farmers’ group, namely, Purikay-Pansod-Tran-Taguisa-Barurao Irrigators’ Association from Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, Alip Lumaga Communal Irrigators’ Association from Columbio and Sewod Upland Farmers’ Association from Senator Ninoy Aquino municipality.

During the turnover ceremony, DAR 12 Regional Director Engr. Marion Y. Abella congratulated the farmer-groups and advised them to take care and maintain the machineries provided to them and ensure sustainability of the project.

“Our ARBs are our priority; support services are vital to farm production and for the development of their association, more so now because they provide our nutritional needs during this time of great pandemic,” said Director Abella.

Sewod Upland Farmers’ Association President Temoteo Labrador expressed his gratitude to DAR on behalf of their association; for exerting all efforts to help the farmers.

“We are really excited to accept the machineries and had to brave through torrential rains just so that we can attend this momentous event. We will ensure that this blessing will be efficiently utilized by our association and that we will perform our duties as recipients of this project,” said Labrador.

In closing, PARPO Alburo said that any progress made by the ARBOs will trickle down to every person who played a role in their development, and make the job rewarding.

“Whatever good we do to the least of our fellowmen we do it unto God,” said Alburo.
