ALAMINOS CITY, PANGASINAN--The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Pangasinan awarded P 540,000-worth of farm tools to 37 alaminian agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) on Tuesday. Each farmer received a rechargeable knapsack sprayer, shovel, rake, iron rod, hoe, pick axle, wheelbarrow, pitch fork, and pruning shear. Meanwhile, the Alaminos-based DAR-assisted agrarian reform beneficiary organization (ARBO) Patnubay Multipurpose Cooperative was given a P 250,000-field cultivator.

"WE GIVE FARMERS ALL OUR RESPECT". PARPO II Maria Ana B. Francisco, CESO V leads the awarding ceremony on Tuesday, January 12. She encouraged farmers to keep working hard as the Department will continue to support their sector. She said that DAR Pangasinan salutes and respects the agricultural sector for their invaluable role in food security during the pandemic.

The farmers are beneficiaries of the ongoing DAR project Linking Smallholder Farmers to Markets and Microfinance (LinkSFarMM), which trains, assists, and organizes farmers to improve their production quality and boost the value of their products through collective marketing. The ARBs from barangays Cayucay, Magsaysay, Bisocol, Mona, Bued, Tawintawin, and Telbang have been undergoing workshops since 2018 to turn them into agri-entrepreneurs.

FARM TOOLS FOR ALL. Agrarian reform beneficiaries stand behind the complete set of farm tools that was awarded to them on Tuesday, January 12. In addition to tools, DAR Pangasinan has been training these farmers to become full-fledged agri-entrepreneurs under the LinkSFarMM program.

The awarding ceremony in Brgy. Tangcarang was led by Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Ma. Ana B. Francisco, CESO V and Alaminos City Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste. Celeste commended the effort of DAR as it complements the present programs of the LGU to Alaminian farmers during the global pandemic."Dito po natin nakikita na hindi po tayo pinapabayaan ng gobyerno. Dito rin po natin nakikita na kapag ang sangay ng gobyerno from the national to the local ay [nagkakaisa], marami po tayong magagawa," he said.

Meanwhile, PARPO II Francisco assured the beneficiaries that the farm tool sets are just the first of many more support that will come from the department."More will come. There's no way to go but agriculture. All over the world, one of the most recognized drivers of our economy now are farmers," she said. (Zarena Amado/Information Officer)
