142 ARBs in Pangasinan rejoice over installation of solar-powered irrigation project
A total of 142 agrarian reform beneficiaries were overjoyed with the installation of a solar-powered irrigation project in Bani, Pangasinan, saying it would greatly help them maximize the potential of their farmland.
Pangasinan provincial agrarian reform program officer Maria Ana Francisco led last Friday the inspection of the project in Barangay Dacap Norte.
The solar-powered irrigation project is being implemented under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project of the DAR to make more productive rain-fed farmlands and help advance the country’s food self-sufficiency program.
Francisco said all 142 farmer-beneficiaries belong to the Rang-ay Upland Integrated Farmers Association and they enjoy farming only once a year, during the rainy season.
“The project is economical and environment-friendly since it uses sunlight to recharge its battery for its operation,” Francisco said.
The project is expected to be turned over to the farmers on the first week of May 2021.
