The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Surigao del Sur handed one (1) unit of hauling truck to San Roque Farmers Producers Cooperative (SRFPC) last February 11, 2021 in Barangay San Roque, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur.

The hauling truck worth P1.2 million pesos will be utilized for the delivery of milled rice to various institutional buyers in the province of Surigao del Sur.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Leoncio C. Bautista, Jr. said that by providing this facility, the coop will be aided in their marketing enterprise activities especially in the delivery of rice products to their existing and upcoming institutional markets.

Chairman Eddie S. Minguito said their organization is blessed to receive the hauling truck. “DAR does not stop in assisting us in our business operations. Since the start of our engagement as EPAHP recipient, a lot of opportunities were opened for us”, he added.

The EPAHP is an initiative of this government spearheaded by the Office of the Cabinet Secretary to mitigate hunger, ensure food security and reduce poverty through delivery of food items to government feeding programs.

“With the help of DAR, we now have forged partnerships with several institutional buyers to where we deliver our milled rice”, Minguito added.

The grant is funded under DAR’s ARBOLD Project Component 1 and granted to farmer organizations with existing marketing links. Previously, DAR also facilitated the forging of contracts of SRFPC with institutional buyers like DOH-retained, community and district hospitals in the region.

"The hauling truck will be an advantage for the coop especially in transporting products on time since they have engaged marketing contract with different hospitals in the province", said RD Leomides R. Villareal.

SRFPC is a group of farmers mostly engaged in rice farming. Organized in year 2014 with a total of 39 members and 26 agrarian reform beneficiaries’ members will benefit the project.

The ceremonial turnover was led by PARPO II Leoncio Bautista together with CARPO Restituto R. Marilla, MARPO Roselyn Y. Rendon and witnessed by ARBO members and DAR employees.
