DAR Davao distributes food packages on Independence Day

DAR Davao Regional Director Joseph Orilla handed out Food Items to the workers of House of Hope Foundation for Kids with Cancer during the celebration of Independence Day.

The Department of Agrarian Reform in Davao Region, spearheaded by Regional Director Joseph Orilla, joined the celebration of the 123rd National Independence Day with the theme, “Kalaayan mula sa Kagutuman, Kahirapan at Malnutrisyon” by distributing food packages in three key areas in Davao City.

RD Orilla was joined by ARD Claudio Ybañez, Davao Del Sur PARPO II Terso Gregorio, Sr., Davao Oriental PARPO I Zaldy Arenas and Davao de Oro PARPO II Jupiter Arandela, Jr. in the distribution of the food packages.

They visited the House of Hope Foundation for Kids with Cancer in the vicinity of Southern Philippines Medical Center where they handed over 100 pcs of Jollibee Cheeseburgers, two (2) Sacks of Rice, Noodles, Sardines, Fruits, Vegetables and even dried fish and bottled water. The team then proceeded to Davao City Jail in Maa, Davao City and gave the same food supplements to the People Deprived of Liberty (PDL). Last stop of RD Orilla’s Team was in the Home for the Aged in Brgy. Cabantian, Davao City.

“Matud pa sa atong Sec. Brother John Castriciones,  icelebrate jud nato ang atong Independence Day ngadto sa mga kaigsoonan natong naglisod pag-ayo sa ilang kinabuhi karong panahuna kay mao manang tema sa atong Independence Day celebration karong tuiga. Ug kanang Home for the Aged, House of Hope Foundation ug Davao City Jail maoy atong napili kay naa diha ang mga tao nga dili basta-basta ang ilang mga kasinatian sa ilang kinabuhi sa pagkakaron (We support the initiative of Sec. Brother John Castriciones to celebrate Independence Day with the people who have been struggling so hard in their lives in this moment of time since it is the theme of our celebration this year. These institutions were chosen considering that they are presently experiencing life’s worst adversity),” RD Orilla said.

This manner of celebrating Philippine Independence Day is also in line with DAR’s thanksgiving effort to the recipients of the department’s successful project, the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) where recipients are patronizing Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations’ (ARBO) farm produce such as vegetables, rice, corns, and bananas. It is an effortless way of thanking these agencies to their unfailing marketing support to the agrarian farmer-beneficiaries.
