The employees of Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) central office in Diliman, Quezon City received their 2nd dose of vaccination against coronavirus-2019 (Covid-19) today, Friday, June 25, 2021, to complete the required doses of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine for full protection against the contagious and deadly disease.

DAR Secretary Brother John Castriciones said the vaccination would provide the employees’ peace of mind from contracting the deadly disease and that they could now work more efficiently to serve the public.

“However, I would like to remind them that they are not totally immune from the disease. The vaccine protects them from getting seriously ill, which could lead to death,” Brother John said.

The Secretary asserted that the inoculated personnel should still follow the government’s guidelines to practice social distancing, wearing of face masks, and frequent washing of their hands, not only to protect themselves but also their loved ones and people they mingle with.

Clarhese Reyes, one of the DAR employees who received the 1st shot, said that after the 1st vaccination, she was already looking forward to getting the 2nd jab and be fully protected from the virus.

The 1st dosage of the vaccine was administered last May 28, 2021, held at the DAR gymnasium.

Clarhese Reyes, one of the DAR employees who received the 1st shot, said that after the 1st vaccination, she was already looking forward to getting the 2nd jab and be fully protected from the virus.

“Part of my job is to liaise with other personnel, where I cannot avoid face-to face interaction. Though I practice all the precautionary measures to avoid the disease, I am still anxious dealing with other employees. But after the complete vaccination, I am sure that my worries would be lessened” she said.

Dra. Maria Concepcion Cabildo, Head of DAR’s Medical Unit, said those who receive the vaccination may have some adverse effects, which are normal after receiving the vaccine.

“The employees can consult doctors for advice if symptoms persist for a few days,” Cabildo said.
