DAR, LGU-Iguig inaugurate Php28.4 Million Santiago-Dumpao Metallic Bridge for farmer-beneficiaries in Iguig, Cagayan

IGUIG, Cagayan – The long-awaited day has come for the Municipal Government of Iguig to finally accept the Santiago-Dumpao metallic bridge constructed by the Department of Agrarian Reform in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways.

On July 02, 2021, Agrarian Reform Secretary John R. Castriciones together with Regional Director Samuel S. Solomero and Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Arthur E. Faeldon led the turn-over and acceptance ceremony of Santiago-Dumapao metallic bridge under Tulay ng  Pangulo para sa Kaunlarang Pang Agraryo (TPKP) to Iguig Municipal Mayor Ferdinand B. Trinidad and Barangay Captains Magno G. Rumusud and Avelina R. Villa of Santiago and Dumpao, respectively.

Secretary Castriciones said, instead of “building walls, we build bridges”. Today, we are going to turn-over a bridge to make our farmer-beneficiaries closer to the community. In these trying times, our farmers are the modern heroes.  Without them, we don’t have staple food on our dining table. 

 

We need to support our farmers in order for them to improve their lives. DAR will fulfill its mandate not only to distribute lands to the landless also the provision of support service, Secretary Castriciones added.

 

Municipal Mayor Ferdinand B. Trinidad, in his message, expressed his gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte, Secretary John R. Castriciones, Regional Director Samuel S. Solomero and Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Arthur Faeldon for the completion of the bridge project.

 Now, regardless of the weather condition, the ARB products will be transported safer and faster to the market place, Mayor Trinidad added.

 “Malaking tulong sa mga residente, studyante at mga magsasaka itong tulay na ito. Hindi tulad noon, ngayon direst ang biyahe ng mga ito. Makikinabang din ang ibang magsasaka mula Dumpao, Samamagui, Irridondo, Mallabak. Mabilis na nilang naibibyahe ang mga palay at ibang produkto sa merkado.” Ayon kay Ginoong Magno Remusud, Kapitan ng Santiago.

 The Php28 Million pesos Santiago-Dumpao Mettalic Bridge is made out of pre-fabricated materials imported from France and with a length of 17. 4 linear meter. The bridge now connects seven (7) barangays in the area, namely: Dumpao, Santiago, San Sebastian, Sta. Barbara Camp, Garab and Manaog to the town proper.  This will benefit thousand residents where 458 are agrarian reform beneficiaries.

 The turn-over and acceptance ceremony of Dumpao- Santiago bridge was also graced by Vice- Mayor Juditas L. Trinidad, Assistant Secretary-Field Operations Office Joey Sumatra, Bureau of Land Tenure Improvement Director Romie Reyes, OIC-PARPO I Jenalyn Baleva, CARPO Peter Barasi, PARCCOM Chairman Felix Alvarez, APhilippine National Police, other DAR Central, Regional and Provincial Offices, Municipal Government of Iguig personnel and agrarian reform beneficiaries.
