VILLAVERDE, Nueva Vizcaya – Transporting farm-produced products is now easier for agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) here after the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has turned over a 40-linear meter bridge worth P8.4 million to the local government of Villaverde.
DAR Secretary Brother John Castriciones said, the bridge was completed last July and implemented under the “Tulay ng Pangulo para sa Kaunlarang Pang-Agraryo” (TPKP) project. It is a joint project with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Provincial Government of Isabela and the LGU of Villaverde.
“The bridge will link our farmers to commercial areas where they can sell their produce,” Brother John said.
He said DAR is adopting the whole-of-nation approach by bringing projects and services closer to the communities to empower the farmers.
“The goal is to allow our farmers to become more active participants in the local economy, and ultimately, to expand the reach and development of the country’s agriculture industry,” said brother John.
The steel bridge has a 40.20-meter long and 7meter wide span which will benefit 4,300 villagers who are ARBs as well as the residents in the area.
DAR-Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Dindi Tan said the bridge will connect Barangays Ibung and Caldaan.
“This bridge will not only benefit farmers and residents in transporting their products to the market centers, but it will also improve the transportation and mobility in the locality for the commuting public. People will no longer have to cross the stony and muddy river,” Tan said.
