Coop in Negros Occidental gets a greenhouse and solar-powered water system from DAR

The turn-over ceremony of greenhouse facility and solar-powered water system with reservoir to Mulawin Lanatan Multipurpose cooperative in Brgy. Poblacion 1, Sagay City given under the Linking Small Holder Farmers to Market with Microfinance (LinkSFARMM) project of the DAR.

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has turned over to Mulawin Lanatan Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MLFMPC) in Brgy. Poblacion 1, Sagay City, a P600,000.00 worth package of a greenhouse facility and a solar-powered water system with a reservoir to improve their yield in vegetable production.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) II Teresita R. Mabunay said the facilities were provided under the Linking Small Holder Farmers to Market with Microfinance (LinkSFARMM) project of the DAR.

“The greenhouse and solar-powered water system would be able to provide the farmers with enough water supply and produce off-season and high-value crops for them to create more market opportunities and increase their income,” Mabunay said.

She disclosed that the facilities would help lessen their production expenses and percentage of crop mortality inside the greenhouse due to its temperature, moisture, heat, and weather control mechanism.

Mabunay said around 82 farmers would benefit from the project which would provide them with an improved and sustained livelihood through agro-enterprise development.

MLFMPC Chairman Edelido Calanza expressed his gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the DAR management for their continued support to its farmer-members.

“All the while, we at the cooperative were thinking that we will get the training of technology transfer from DAR. We are so happy and thankful that DAR not only provided us with the skills but has also awarded us this Php 600,000 worth of facilities,” MLFMPC Bookkeeper Marilyn Dieta said.

Dieta added that this project will help improve their livelihood and increase their households’ farming income”, Dieta added.

After the turn-over ceremony, the DAR-Negros Occidental awarded certificates of attendance for the thirty-five (35) farmers who completed and attended the Agri-credit and Microfinance training.

Aside from Mabunay, others who attended the event were PARPO Milagros C. Flores, Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Jessan S. Saquian, Chief Aisha May T. Ardiente, and other members of the cooperative and farmers of the community.

LinkSFarMM is a DAR project that links agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) and smallholder farmers to the supply chain of products to help uplift the lives of ARBs, smallholder farmers, and farmer organizations.

Nagkaloob kamakailan ang Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) ng greenhouse at solar-powered water system na may imbakan ng tubig sa Mulawin Lanatan Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MLFMPC) sa Brgy. Poblacion 1, Sagay City na nagkakahalaga ng P600,000.00 upang mapalakas ang kanilang produksyon ng gulay.

Ayon kay Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) II Teresita R. Mabunay, ang greenhouse at imbakan ng tubig ay ipinagkaloob sa ilalim ng Linking Small Holder Farmers to Market with Microfinance (LinkSFARMM) na proyekto ng DAR.

"Ang greenhouse at solar-powered water system ay magkakaloob sa mga magsasaka ng tamang suplay ng patubig at dahil dito sila ay patuloy na makapagtatanim off-season at high-value crops upang magkaroon sila ng mas malawak na merkado ng kanilang produkto na magreresulta sa pagtaas ng kanilang kita,” ani Mabunay.

Ipinahayag niya na dahil sa pasilidad na ito mababawasan ang mga gastusin ng mga magsasaka sa panahon ng produksyon at mababawasan din ang dami ng namamatay na halaman sa loob ng greenhouse dahil sa temperatura, moisture, init na makokontrol ng mekanismo ng pasilidad.

Sinabi ni Mabunay na may 82 magsasaka ang makikinabang sa proyektong ito kung saan sila ay mapagkakalooban ng pang-kabuhayan sa pamamagitan ng agri-enterprise development activities.

Nagpahayag Edelido Calanza, Chairman ng MLFMPC ng taos-pusong pasasalamat sa pamunuan ng DAR sa kanilang patuloy na suporta sa kanilang mga magsasakang-miyembro.

“Ang iniisip namin sa kooperatiba ay magkakaroon lang kami ng pagsasanay sa paglilipat ng teknolohiya mula sa DAR. Napakasaya namin at napagkalooban kami ng Php 600,000 na halaga na pasilidad,” ani ni MLFMPC Bookkeeper Marilyn Dieta.

Dagdag ni Dieta na ang proyektong ito ay tiyak na makatutulong para mapabuti ang kanilang kabuhayan at madadagdagan ang kanilang kita sa pagsasaka.

Pagkatapos ng turn-over ceremony, iginawad sa tatlumpu't limang (35) magsasaka ang certificates of attendance para sa mga nakatapos at dumalo sa Agri-credit at Microfinance training.

Bukod kay Mabunay, ang seremonya ay dinaluhan nina PARPO Milagros C. Flores, Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Jessan S. Saquian, Chief Aisha May T. Ardiente, mga miyembro ng kooperatiba at mga iba pang magsasaka sa naturang lugar.

Ang LinkSFarMM ay isang proyekto ng DAR na nag-uugnay sa mga agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) at mga magsasaka para sa supply chain of products upang makatulong na maiangat ang buhay ng mga ARB, mga magsasaka, at samahan ng magsasaka.
