DAR distributes 174.13 has. settlement area and government-owned lands in Davao de Oro
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Davao de Oro distributed a total of 174.13 hectares of agricultural lands comprising of Alang sa Karagan Valley Settlement in Bahi and Langgawisan, in the municipality of Maragusan and a government-owned land (GOL) in Davao National Agricultural School (DNAS) in Banglasan, Montevista which will benefit a total of 100 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs).
Field Operations Office Undersecretary Elmer Distor, who led the distribution ceremony said around 107 certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) were distributed to 79 ARBs from the 156.47 hectares of Alang sa Karagan Valley Settlement landholdings while 24 CLOAs were given to 21 farmer-beneficiaries from the 17.66 hectares Davao National Agricultural School.
“The DAR is mandated to provide lands to qualified beneficiaries. Take good care of your lands and make them productive,” Distor said.
The distribution of CLOAs coincided with the celebration of the 44th Day of Maragusan, held in the Municipal Cultural Center, in Poblacion.
DAR Davao Regional Director Joseph Orilla extended his greetings to the people of Maragusan and expressed his gratefulness to the local government for including the land distribution ceremony as part of their celebration.
“I am confident that the DAR-Davao de Oro provincial office would continue working hard to serve the ARBs through the department’s programs on land tenure security, development and sustainability, and agrarian justice delivery,” Orilla said.
The event was also attended by Maragusan Mayor Maricel Colina-Vendiola, Montevista Mayor Eutropio Jayectin, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Jupiter Arandela Jr., and other local DAR officials.
