Buhay sa Gulay (BsG) Project in Bulacan Keeping Farmer Cooperators On the Go

Farmer Joel Gabriel, 51 years old, has been meticulously nurturing his eggplants and tomatoes within the 700-sq.m.  farmland in Barangay Siling Matanda, Pandi town in Bulacan province. Why not? For this piece of land, he posted initial sales of over Php1,000 for the first harvest.

Gabriel is a member of Gintong Ani ng Magsasaka sa Barangay Pinagkuartelan Association (GAMPA), also in the same town, an agrarian reform beneficiaries' association (ARBO) which was identified as a cooperator in the Buhay sa Gulay (BsG) Project of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the Province of Bulacan just last quarter of last year. Other farmer cooperators in the area are just as optimistic as Gabriel.

The monitoring activity was conducted recently by the Project Beneficiaries Development Division personnel of the provincial office of Bulacan in compliance with the Department’s directive to integrate the BsG approach in the current implementation of the Farm Business School (FBS) Project to help ensure food security,  mitigate the effects of climate change and as a concrete response to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

The BsG Project aims to provide immediate supply of food for the families of cooperators and ultimately the communities within the area. It is also intended to help increase farmers income especially during this pandemic.
