DAR turns over utility vehicle to farmer’s organization in South Cotabato
Banga, South Cotabato - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) provincial office of South Cotabato recently turned over a Php300,000.00 worth of utility vehicle to Banga Agrarian Reform Community Cooperative (BARCCO).
The utility vehicle would be used by BARCCO, located in Barangay Malaya, for the delivery of their agricultural goods to the selected towns of South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat provinces.
Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Lorna Garde said the vehicle was procured under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty Program (EPAHPP), which was implemented by the department and other government agencies to help mitigate hunger and ensure food and nutrition security.
“Under EPAHPP, BARCCO signed a marketing agreement with the National Nutrition Council XII last n support to the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program on which the cooperative will deliver dry goods, vegetables, and other meat products to its assigned municipalities,” Garde said.
Tutok Kainan aims to prevent stunting by giving nutritious food commodities to nutritionally at-risk pregnant women and children 6-23 months old.
“Take good care of the unit and please ensure that this will serve its purpose of improving your livelihood,” Garde said.
BARCCO Chairman Sandro Simora expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the unending support from the DAR as he ensured to keep the sustainability and functionality of the vehicle.
