DAR-EV celebrates 34 years of CARP, 50 years of P.D. 27

DAR holds motorcade around the City of Tacloban.

DAR Eastern Visayas joined on Friday, June 17, the simultaneous holding of motorcade throughout the country to drumbeat the 34th year of CARP implementation and the 50th year of Presidential Decree (PD) No. 27.

Republic Act No. 6657 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law (CARL) signed by former president Corazon Aquino covered all agricultural lands under the agrarian reform program regardless of tenurial arrangements, while PD 27 issued by former president Ferdinand Marcos emancipated all tenants from the bondage of the soil.

Regional Director Robert Anthony Yu shared that other activities lined-up this month in relation to the twin-celebration include the conduct of legal clinic for agrarian-related issues on June 14 in Ormoc City and a two-day trade fair on the 27th and 28th at the DAR Regional office compound showcasing products of agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) throughout the region.

This year’s theme is “Tuloy ang Pag-asa at Pag-unlad Hatid ng Repormang Agraryo.”
