DAR, PCCAI seal partnership to provide medical assistance to DAR employees
MANILA – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the Philippine Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. (PCCAI) on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) granting medical assistance to the DAR employees.
DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III and PCCAI chairman Antonio Tan spearheaded the MOA signing at the Chinese General Hospital Medical Arts Building in Manila.
Estrella said that this is a very significant and memorable day as he expressed his gratitude to the PCCAI for understanding and exerting all efforts to partner with the DAR to address the worries and fears of its employees.
“On behalf of the millions of agrarian reform beneficiaries and the DAR, I would like to thank all of you for your kindness and generosity. The magnitude of your kindness and generosity is one big favor that you extended to the employees of the DAR and we will forever be indebted to all of you,” he said.
Tan said that the partnership with the DAR will provide comprehensive medical assistance to all DAR personnel in times of sickness or emergency.
He said that under the agreement, the Chine General Hospital and Medical Center will provide fifty percent (50 %) discount on diagnosis and treatment including major operations or surgeries, and thirty percent (30%) discount on laboratory, pulmonary and x-ray services upon presentation of proof that the patient is a personnel of the DAR.
Tan disclosed that in the event of emergency cases and hospital confinement, the DAR personnel must present and submit his employment identification card or in its absence, a certification duly signed by the Chief, Personnel Division that the patient is a bonafide employee of the department.
“We are thrilled to be able to work with you on your noble goal of actualizing equitable land distribution, ownership, agricultural productivity, and tenurial security for the farmers of our country,” he said.
The MOA will take effect immediately and will be valid for one (1) year subject to renewal thirty (30) days before its expiration as may be agreed upon by both parties.
The MOA signing was witnessed by PCCAI Executive-Vice President & Chief Operating Officer Kelly H. Sia, Emeritus Chairman Dr. Benito. Goyokpin, Honorary Chairman Florante Dy, Vice-President and Special Assistant to the President Robert Yang, and DAR Assistant Secretary for Finance, Management and Administration Office (FMAO) Aurita Carlos-Ang.
