DAR extends cash relief to its typhoon-hit SDN and PDI personnel

A total of 98 personnel, both permanent and contract of service, from the provincial office of the Department of Agrarian Reform in Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands were exuberant when they received their financial assistance from their DAR Family last January 26, 2022.

Yordan, who personally experienced the wrath of super typhoon Odette when it hit their village in the early afternoon of December 16, 2021.

Representing the DAR Family, Caraga Regional Director Leomides R. Villareal personally handed the cash assistance to the said personnel who were victims of the said super typhoon.

“The financial assistance came from the own pockets of the DAR personnel all over the Philippines. This is our way of showing to you that we are one as family, and we will rise together from this crisis” quipped RD Villareal.

“This was an unexpected blessing. This will definitely go a long way in rebuilding our lives and homes” said Grecita P. Calinawan, whose house was severely damaged by the said super typhoon.

According to Maria Elizabeth L. De Guzman, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II, no casualty was recorded for DAR Surigao Norte and Dinagat Islands personnel though majority of whom have damages in their houses, properties and livelihoods brought by Typhoon Odette’s devastation.

“Our office has an estimated damage of ten million pesos (P10,000,000.00) on building structures on both provincial and municipal offices, office furniture and fixtures, information technology equipment, office records, and office supplies” added PARPO De Guzman.
