The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Camarines Sur recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Social Security System (SSS) to ensure that all the DAR employees will be covered and have access to security protection not only through the Government Insurance System (GSIS) but also by being a member of the SSS.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) II Ricardo C. Garcia said the initiative will cover Job Order (JO) and Contract of Service (COS) personnel to strengthen the support system for government employees and ensure their long-term financial security.
“The partnership grants permanent, JOs and COS employees additional essential retirement package, sickness, and death benefits, aside from the one provided by the GSIS,” Garcia said.
Garcia disclosed that under the agreement, the SSS shall register the permanent employees of the DAR, job orders, and COS personnel as SSS self-employed members. The DAR will remit their monthly contributions through an automatic salary deduction scheme to qualify them for benefits and privileges under the Social Security (SS) and Employees’ Compensation (EC) programs.
The collaboration highlights the shared commitment of both agencies to safeguard the welfare of the public servants, reinforcing the government’s efforts to provide comprehensive social protection for its workforce.
Witnessing the event were SSS representatives headed by its Branch Head Claribel L. Rebueno, Chief Executive Officer II Nono M. Santiago, and Acting Team Head Alvin Borromeo. The DAR, aside from PARPO II Garcia, was accompanied by Provincial Chief Administrative Officer (AO) Lea A. Villaraza, Human Resource Management Officer II Sheralyn Layderos-Miraran, and AO III Julie Anne O. Capardo.
