DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III welcomed the IoTCon 2024 delegates upon their arrival at the DAR central office.

Officials from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and delegates from the Internet of Things (IoT) Conference explored and interacted on October 28, 2024, for possible improvement of the agency’s information technology (IT) and digitalization program.

Jesry T. Palmares, Undersecretary for Foreign Assisted and Special Projects Office (FASPO) welcomed the IoTCon delegates headed by Arnold Bagabaldo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of Packetworx held at the DAR central office.

“With this possible collaboration, the DAR will be able to learn more about updating our digitalization system, data gathering, accessibility, and better internet connection,” Palmares said.

He disclosed that after parcelization of land titles, the DAR will be moving forward to the provision of support services to the agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs), and ARB organizations.

“We have at least 8,110 organizations in the country and about 2,700 agrarian reform communities. With this possible partnership, the DAR will be guided with the latest trends, innovations, and technologies through the use of IT applications that will help the farmers become more efficient in the cultivation and modernization of the farms provided by the DAR,” Palmares said.

Bagabaldo on the other hand said Packetworx is the first and only connectivity provider for the Internet of Things in the Philippines and they visited the DAR as part of their IoTCon 2024 scheduled on October 29-30 to showcase innovative IoT solutions and promote digital transformations across the country.

With the theme “Connected Ecosystem in Building the IoT-Ready Philippines,” IoTCon 2024 seeks to bring together industry professionals, government representatives, and global IoT stakeholders to foster collaboration and explore connected technologies.

“We see us as enablers to make the Philippines competitive. We interact a lot with the academe, and the government agencies to enable our future scientists and engineers to be equipped with the new technologies, and familiarize themselves on how they can use technology and improve their practices using the new processes,” Bagabaldo said.

The group was also joined by Alper Yegin, CEO of LoRA Alliance, Henry Huang, CEO of Browan, Yann Bauduin, Chief Sales Officer of Kerlink, Neil Carey, Vice President of EMEA and PAC, Multitech, Lim Perng, Head of Sales, APAC, Netmore, and Anicet Giamo, Head of LPWAN Product Marketing, STMicro.
