DAR distributes agri farm inputs to boost rice production of 200 farmers in Isabela
GAMU, Isabela –Simultaneous with the launching of Major Crop-based Block Farm Productivity Enhancement dubbed as “Rice Production Technology using Carrageenan”, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) provincial office in Isabela has distributed agricultural farm inputs to 200 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Gamu, Isabela to boost rice production in the area.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Engr. Eunomio, Jr. P. Israel, said the initiative is part of the major crop-based block farm productivity enhancement project under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support (CRFPS) Project of the DAR.
He said the 200 farmer-members of Barcolan Buenavista Dammao Development Cooperative (BARBUEDA DECO) benefited from the 20 bags of hybrid rice seeds, 40 bags 14-14-14 fertilizers, 40 bags of 46-0-0 fertilizers, 20 bottles/liters of pre-emergent herbicides and 180 liters of Carrageenan plant growth promoter.
“Block farming allows the farmers to make their individual small landholdings become contiguous, enabling them to increase their crop yield and boost the cooperative’s rice production,” Israel said.
The provision of agricultural extension services and agricultural farm inputs were made possible through the perseverance of Cagayan Valley Regional Director Samuel S. Solomero and the DAR provincial office of Isabela to help uplift the quality of life and increase the agricultural production of the ARBs in the area.
