DAR turns over Php1.6-M farm equipment to Zambo Sibugay farmers
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay recently turn over PhP1,645,300 worth of farm machinery and equipment to six (6) agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) to boost the livelihood of its member-farmers.
The 6 ARBOs which include the Patalon Estate Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Corporation (PEARBC), Silingan Rubber Farmer's Association (SIRFA), Palomoc Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PARBEMCO), Dansulao Integrated Development Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Small Water Impounding System Association (SWISA), and Tomitom Rubber Farmer's Association, received various farm equipment including rotavator/power tiller, power sprayer, garden rake, backpack sprayer, wheelbarrow, spade/shovel, pruning shear, and water pump.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II (PARPO) Mohammad Dassan Adju divulged that 1,077 agrarian reform beneficiaries, comprising of 514 males and 563 females, will benefit from this project.
“The distribution of farm equipment is implemented through the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program, a government initiative which aims to mitigate hunger, ensure food security, and establish sustainable agriculture in the country,” he said.
He also added that Buluan Community Cooperative (BACOMCO) and JR Garcia Multi-Purpose Cooperative are also set to receive the same equipment soon.
PARPO I Lorna Salera and Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Anthony Teves accompanied Adju in distributing the said equipment to the president and representatives of the recipient ARBOs, held at the DAR provincial office in the town of Ipil.
