South Cotabato DAR personnel attend mediation training to effectively resolve land disputes
South Cotabato field personnel from the Department of Agrarian (DAR) recently attended a series of mediation training to enhance their knowledge on the basics of mediation proceedings.
Mariannie Lauban-Banto, DAR Soccsksargen Director said the series of training for the field personnel is in response to the nine primary goals of DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III aimed at improving the lives of the agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) of the program.
Included among the primary goals identified by Estrella to benefit the ARBs are: intervention on land tenure problems, agrarian justice delivery, intervention for support services, interventions for medical expenses, educational expenses, technical skills, diversified income sources, farm-to-market roads and irrigation.
Baunto said these activities would help municipal agrarian reform program officers and other field personnel to conduct smooth mediation proceedings.
“To successfully resolve agrarian-related conflicts we need an effective and quick mediation process in the field,” she said.
Evangeline Bueno, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II said the activities would further enhance the delivery of quality services to the ARBs.
“We would like to thank the department for their all-out support in our pursuit to enhance our skills and capacity. The training also served as a refresher course to those who already know the basics of mediation proceedings,” she said.
