Senate Majority Floor Leader Senator Francis Tolentino has submitted the proposed ₱11.101-billion 2025 budget of the Department of Agrarian Reform for consideration and approval by the Senate on Monday, November 18, 2024, after Senator Cynthia Villar sponsored and defended it before the Senate plenary hearing.

Senator Cynthia Villar and Senate Tolentino moved for the DAR’s proposed budget approval, which is 2.009 billion or 24.86% higher than the current year’s level of ₱8.081 ₱ billion.

During her presentation, Villar recognized the DAR as the lead government agency to implement a comprehensive and genuine agrarian reform that actualizes equitable land distribution, ownership, agricultural productivity, and tenurial security of the tillers of the land towards improving their quality of life.

“I am hopeful that the budget of DAR will be approved to continue its agrarian reform efforts in improving the lives of our farmer-beneficiaries, the major key players who till and produce the food we eat,” she said.

According to Villar, the DAR is confident that the distribution of over 161,815.67 hectares of agrarian reform land to farmers will take only three years, or before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ends his term.

For this year alone, the DAR distributed over 61,623 hectares to agrarian reform beneficiaries.

📅
