Naujan, Oriental Mindoro – Members of the Sta. Maria Agrarian Reform Community Cooperative (SMARCC) recently received a newly renovated meat processing building from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to expand its operations and increase its local meat business opportunities.
The facility, with an estimated cost of Php867,000.00, includes the improvement of its existing building, enhancing its functionality and safety for meat processing.
DAR MIMAROPA Director Marvin Bernal said this facility would ensure high-quality products and would open more market opportunities to the cooperative.
“I challenge the officials and members of SMARCC to embrace this opportunity with commitment and I also ask our fellow DAR members and other implementing agencies to provide continued guidance and support to SMARCC in their future endeavors,” he said.
Established in 2004, SMARCC boasts a membership of 149, with 82 male and 67 female members. The cooperative has a diverse portfolio, engaging in businesses such as credit, agricultural input trading, farm machinery services, catering, rice marketing, swine production, and the latest meat processing.
Over the past 20 years, SMARCC’s total assets have grown to approximately PhP 32 million. The cooperative, aside from the DAR, enjoys accreditation from several organizations, including the Sangguniang Bayan ng Naujan, Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Silangang Mindoro, Department of Agriculture, National Food Authority, and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation.
Jonathan Delgado, General Manager of SMARCC, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the DAR, other agencies, and the Municipal Government of Naujan for their support.
“Our livelihood activities would greatly benefit from this facility and because the cooperative is offering high quality and reasonable prices for our products, other community members would also benefit as well,” he said.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Rogelio Madarcos said this project is implemented under the DAR’s Village Level Farm-Focused Enterprise Development (VLFED) 2024 program, which focuses on capacitating agrarian reform beneficiaries to improve their product development and enhance the skills of the farmers in managing their cooperative.

Naujan, Oriental Mindoro – Nakatanggap kamakailan ang mga miyembro ng Sta. Maria Agrarian Reform Community Cooperative (SMARCC) ng bagong meat processing building mula sa Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) upang mapalawig ang kanilang operasyon at madagdagan ang kanilang oportunidad sa negosyo ng karne.
Kasama sa pasilidad, na may tinatayang halagang Php867,000.00, ang pagsasaayos ng kanilang gusali , pagsasaayos ng mga kagamitan at kaligtasan nito para sa pagpoproseso ng karne.
Ayon kay DAR MIMAROPA Director Marvin Bernal titiyakin ng pasilidad na ito ang taas ng kalidad ng produkto ito at magbubukas sa kooperatiba ng mas maraming oportunidad para sa merkado.
“Binibigyang hamon natin ang mga opisyal at kasapi ng SMARCC na harapin ang oportunidad na ito nang may pangako at hinihimok din natin ang kapwa nating taga-DAR at iba pang tagapagtupad na ahensya na magbigay ng patuloy na gabay at suporta sa SMARCC para sa kanilang mga darating pang proyekto,” aniya.
Itinatag noong 2004, ang SMARCC ay may 149 kasapi, na may 82 lalaki at 67 babaeng miyembro. Ang kooperatiba ay may iba-ibang negosyo gaya ng pautang, agricultural input trading, serbisyo ng makinaryang pangsaka, catering, rice marketing, swine production, at ang meat processing.
Sa nagdaang 20 taon, ang SMARCC ay may tinatayang asset na PhP 32 milyon. Ang kooperatiba, bukod sa DAR, ay may akreditasyon mula sa iba’t ibang organisasyon tulad ng Sangguniang Bayan ng Naujan, Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Silangang Mindoro, Department of Agriculture, National Food Authority, at ang Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation.
Nagpasalamat naman si Jonathan Delgado, General Manager ng SMARCC, sa DAR, sa iba pang ahensiya at sa Municipal Governmentng Naujan para sa kanilang suporta.
“Ang aming mga aktibidad sa kabuhayan ay lubos na makikinabang sa pasilidad na ito at dahil ang kooperatiba ay nag-aalok ng mataas na kalidad at makatwirang presyo para sa aming mga produkto, ang mga residente mula sa ibang mga komunidad ay makikinabang din,” aniya.
Inihayag ni Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Rogelio Madarcos na ang proyektong ito ay naipatupad sa ilalim ng Village Level Farm-Focused Enterprise Development (VLFED) 2024 program ng DAR, na nakatuon sa pagbibigay kakayahan sa mga agrarian reform beneficiaries upang mapagbuti ang kanilang produkto at mapahusay ang kakayahan ng mga magsasaka sa pamamahala ng kanilang kooperatiba.
