The Agrarian Legal Services (ALS) Team of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)-Quirino conducted an activity dubbed as Legal Cliniquing in Barangay Ponggo, Nagtipunan and Barangay Balligui, Maddela on May 29-30, 2024.
The two-day program aimed to bring the legal services and other programs of the department closer to the people, especially in the grassroots level and to the farmworkers consistent with the principle that those with less privilege in life should have more in law.
Atty. Caridad Grace T. Turquez explained the purpose of DAR-Quirino’s visit to the farmers and farmworkers in these barangays. “We are here to provide you with legal services that address your concerns related to the agrarian reform program,” she stated.
“In addition, we are here to bring the programs of DAR-Quirino closer to you,” she added. Meanwhile, participants from the two barangays received free legal assistance through one-on-one sessions, where their concerns regarding agrarian reform were directly addressed.
No less than Atty. Caridad Grace T. Turqueza and Atty. Catherine M. Eclar, Provincial Agrarian Reform Adjudicator, represented by Sheriff III Luzviminda Ysmael, led the team.
Also in attendance were Engr. Jessberg M. Vaflor, Chief Agrarian Reform Program Office (CARPO) and OIC-Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer I, OIC-Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer (MARPO) Francisco Tugatog of Nagtipunan, MARPO Criseta D. Valdez of Maddela, and a number of hardworking men and women of DAR-Quirino.
