RD Joseph H. Orilla of DAR XI joins the visit of TESDA Secretary Isidro I. Lapeña to DNAS, Montevista

Regional Director Joseph H. Orilla of Department of Agrarian Reform, Davao Region joined the visit of TESDA Secretary Isidro I. Lapeña to Davao National Agricultural School (DNAS) reservation area in Prosperidad, Montevista, Davao de Oro on July 21, 2020.  He was ably assisted by PARPO II Melchor Jamora of Davao de Oro in  discussing important mattes with Sec. Lapeña.

Secretary Lapeña was in Montevista, Davao de Oro to spearhead the Skills Training on Toddy Tapping (Mananggiti) cum Production in Purok 7, Barangay Prosperidad.  In the same occasion, RD Orilla and PARPO II Jamora discussed with Secretary Lapeña the distribution of the said reservation area to potential agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs), which is about 270.0551 hectares and is located in the barangays of Prosperidad, Banglasan, and Camansi, all situated in Montevista, Davao de Oro.

Purok 7, Prosperidad, Montevista, Davao de Oro is one of the pilot areas for convergence under Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster (PRLEC). It is one of the clusters formed under Presidential Executive Order No. 70, series of 2018, dubbed as “Institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace, creating a National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and Directing the Adoption of a National Peace Framework”.

In their discussion, Secretary Lapeña informed RD Orilla and PARPO Jamora that he is willing to sign the Deed of Transfer (DOT) covering the 2 parcels of land belonging to DNAS. The DOT is a requisite document to register the Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) in favor of about 229 farmer occupants in the said reservation.

The distribution is in accord with the Presidential Executive Order No. 75, series of 2019 which aimed to distribute Government-Owned Lands (GOL).

Other agencies represented in the event come from the Department of Agriculture (DA), Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Department of Public Ways and HIghways (DPWH), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Commission of Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), and other PRLEC Members.
