PARPO Jocelyn Seno with NJKCFO Chairperson Jhol Seguros cut the ribbon during the turn over of IRF in Kipalili, San Isidro, Davao del Norte.

The two units of IRF costs P80,000.00 and the Barangay of Kipalili also supplemented another P12,000.00 worth of materials for the completion of the said project.

PARPO I Leo Nuñeza of DAR Provincial Office - Program Beneficiaries Development Division (DARPO-PBDD) was present in the activity and gave the presentation of the project. “There are already 48 units of Iron Removal Filter for Potable Water Supply Projects that were turned over to the different organizations here in Davao del Norte since the wrath of Bagyong Pablo in 2012 and it turned out that of these 48 units, only half of them are still functional at present. I am hoping that this will not happen here since this is one of the two main sources of your potable drinking water in your area", he said.

On the other hand, OIC-PARPO Jocelyn Seno also graced the activity and extended her warmest congratulations to the recipients of the project and reminded them to take care of the project. “Once the project is turned over, the responsibility of all components of the project is also given to the beneficiaries. All I am asking is please take good care of the project being turned over to you because this will not only redound to you and to your organization but also this will serve as your legacy to your children and the children of your children”.

In his previledge speech, NJKCFO Chairperson Jhol Seguros thanked the DAR, the Barangay Local Government Unit, the landowner of the water source and others who help in the realization of the project since this is the first time in the history of their community that their water source  is already filtered and thus, safer. "This DAR project did not just improve the quality of our potable water here but also improve our streets going to the water source. As you can see, the pathway heading towards our drinking water can now be passed by any type of vehicle. Before this project came to our community, we can only reach this place by-foot and we will walk 1 to 2 kilometers going back and forth". During the installation process of the project, Kipalili Barangay Captain Cirilo Lamsin also requested Mayor Arnel Sitoy of San Isidro to to facilitate the road widening in the area and mayor immediately responded positively to the request.

The IRF Project in Kipalili which is under the Community-Managed Potable Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (CPWASH) Program of DAR is the 49th project of DARPO Davao del Norte since 2012 that aims to demonstrate pro-poor and low-cost technologies that will provide ARB Households access to safe drinking water supply and sanitation which eventually enhance local livelihood in the area. - PIO Dindo C.
