Farmers’ organization in Quezon province receives service vehicle from DAR

Engr. Cornelio P. Villapando, DAR Quezon II Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II, hands over the ceremonial key to Sumagosong Farmers’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SUMAFAR MPC) Chairman Luis G. Combinido in Mulanay, Quezon.

Mulanay, Quezon – Thirty (30) agrarian reform beneficiary (ARB) members from the Sumagosong Farmers’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SUMAFAR MPC) here received a delivery service vehicle worth Php240,000.00 from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), to transport their products to private buyers and consumers and for the food requirements of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

SUMAFAR MPC previously signed a marketing agreement with the BJMP Gumaca District Jail in May of 2022 to become a supplier of vegetables, rice, corn, fruits, root crops, poultry, and other farm products to the inmates.

Luis G. Combinido, SUMAFAR MPC Chairman, thanked DAR for supporting the farmers.

"Thank you very much to the DAR for providing our organization with a service vehicle. Through this, we can expand our operations so that the income of the organization will grow,” Combinido said.

The delivery service vehicle that will be used to transport vegetables, rice, corn, fruits, root crops, poultry, and other products of the SUMAFAR MPC to the buyers.

Engr. Cornelio P. Villapando, DAR Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II, said the provision of the service vehicle is part of the national government’s Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program implemented by the DAR.

Villapando said the program reflects the commitment of DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III to the national goal of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to improve the lives of the farmers through the provision of various support services.

He said that he is confident that this vehicle will help the SUMAFAR MPC members fulfill the vision of the DAR to bring the farmers and their products closer to the market and other trading centers.

"Our government will continue to provide you with various support and projects to raise your standard of living. Just keep on doing what is expected of you to be productive so that more blessings can be provided by the local and national government to your organization,” he added.

Aristotle L. Aguirre, Municipal Mayor of Mulanay graced the turn-over ceremony and revealed that the local government of Mulanay is tapping several sectors and agencies for the implementation of various projects, specifically the construction of farm-to-market roads to provide ease in the delivery of farmers’ produce to the market.
