DAR conducts training on Enterprise-based Agrarian Reform Community Development

LEGAZPI CITY— As part of the government's active implementation of agrarian reform program, 109 personnel from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the Bicol region have begun a six-day training course in enterprise-based Agrarian Reform Community Development (E-ARCOD).

Two training sessions will take place at the Patio de San Jose Resort and Convention Center in Malilipot, Albay. The first batch, consisting of 53 participants from Catanduanes, Masbate, Sorsogon, and Albay, is now ongoing as of today, January 16, and the second batch, with 56 participants from Camarines Sur I, Camarines Sur II, and Camarines Norte, will likewise begin on January 30 until February 4.

Agrarian Reform Program Officers I of DAR’s Program Beneficiaries Development Division (PBDD) will be trained to become competent community organizers and enterprise development facilitators, enabling them to engage in the development interventions of the agrarian reform communities (ARCs).

In addition, they will be instructed in the formulation of effective development plans and innovative strategies for the growth of ARCs and farmer organizations.

Asst. Regional Director for Operations Engr. Romulo Britanico said that DAR had identified the conduct of E-ARCOD training as being essential for development facilitators (DFs) to implement entrepreneurial activities in their respective ARCs.

Britanico said the DFs are responsible for improving the quality of life of the beneficiaries of agrarian reform so that they can become active participants in the government's development efforts.

This training was made possible by a partnership between the Bureau of Agrarian Reform Information and Education (BARIE) and DAR Bicol.

Earlier, regional and provincial PBDD staff also went through a four-day orientation to have a common understanding of the E-ARCOD Training Framework and other capacity development programs. The participants were given an overview of the modules and sessions of E-ARCOD, including their contents and processes.
