KITAMBAN, Misamis Oriental – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is set to rehabilitate the fertilizer processing facility of the Kitamban Farmers MPC (KIFAMCO), located in Barangay Binuagan here, to capacitate the members of the said agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organization (ARBO) to profitably operate and manage their own enterprise.

To jumpstart the construction, Fatima Aniqa Macarambon, DAR Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer, led the signing of a memorandum of agreement between DAR, the local government of Kitamban, and KIFAMCO.

Macarambon said that the facility is expected to improve the farm productivity of the cooperative leading to the generation of more income.

“We want to raise the level of competency of the more than 100 farmer-members of KIFAMCO from being mere raw farm products producers into processors themselves,” Macarambon said.

The processing facility building costs Php400,000.00 with a capacity development training component provided to the cooperative members, funded under the Village Level Focused Enterprise Development (VLFED) project.

The municipal government of Kitamban, for its part, shared the labor cost counterpart and additional materials.

Under the VLFED project, the farmers had undergone seminars and training on processing organic fertilizers, and business marketing to develop their farm enterprise and make their business operations profitable.

“The KIFAMCO farmers are now experts on organic fertilizer processing, thanks to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for conducting the training. The DAR has also provided them with a shredder machine for easy and fast processing of fertilizers,” Macarambon said.

Members of the ARBO expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity given to them and in turn committed to properly manage the business and ensure that the processing facility will serve its purpose.

“The construction will be finished within sixty (60) days,” said Rito C. Amao, KIFAMCO Chairman.

KITAMBAN, Misamis Oriental – Nakatakdang isaayos ng Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) ang fertilizer processing facility ng Kitamban Farmers MPC (KIFAMCO), na matatagpuan sa Barangay Binuagan dito, para bigyang kapasidad ang mga miyembro ng nasabing agrarian reform beneficiaries' organization (ARBO) upang palakasin ang mga miyembro ng naturang agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organization (ARBO) na kumita at mapamahalaan ang kanilang sariling negosyo.

Upang simulan ang konstruksyon, pinangunahan ni Fatima Aniqa Macarambon, DAR Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer, ang paglagda ng isang memorandum of agreement sa pagitan ng DAR, ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Kitamban, at KIFAMCO.

Sinabi ni Macarambon na ang pasilidad ay inaasahang magpapabuti ng produksyon ng kooperatiba na hahantong sa mas marami at mataas na kita.

"Nais naming itaas ang antas ng kakayahan ng higit sa 100 magsasakang-miyembro ng KIFAMCO mula sa pagiging taga-tanim at taga-ani lamang, patungo sa pagiging taga-proseso ng mga produkto mula sa kanilang mga ani,” ani Macarambon.

Ang pasilidad ay nagkakahalaga ng Php400,000.00 na may kasamang capacity development training component na ibinibigay sa mga miyembro ng kooperatiba, na pinondohan sa ilalim ng Village Level Focused Enterprise Development (VLFED) project.

Ang lokal na pamahalaan ng Kitamban, sa kanilang bahagi, ay nagkaloob ng katapat na labor cost at karagdagang mga materyales.

Sa ilalim ng proyektong VLFED, ang mga magsasaka ay sumailalim sa mga seminar at pagsasanay sa pagpoproseso ng mga organikong pataba, at business marketing upang mapaunlad ang kanilang negosyo at gawing kumikita ang mga ito.

“Ang mga magsasaka ng KIFAMCO ay dalubhasa na sa pagproseso ng organic fertilizer, salamat sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) sa pagsasagawa ng mga pagsasanay. Binigyan din sila ng DAR ng shredder machine para mapadali at mapabilis ang pagproseso ng mga pataba,” ani Macarambon.

Ang mga miyembro ng ARBO ay nagpahayag ng kanilang taos-pusong pasasalamat sa pagkakataong ibinigay sa kanila at nangakong palalaguin nila ang negosyo at titiyaking ang pasilidad ay gagamitin ng kooperatiba ayon sa layunin nito.

"Ang konstruksyon ay matatapos sa loob ng animnapung (60) araw," ayon kay Rito C. Amao, tagapangulo ng kooperatiba.
