DAR Employees Association reaches out to abandoned elderly
City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The DAREA Regional Office III Chapter on June 16 donated goods and cash to Bahay Pag-ibig - a non-stock, non-profit organization in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga which caters to the abandoned elderly.
DAREA President Rogelio Lagman said that the Chapter handed out over P20,000 in cash and in-kind as a fitting celebration of the 35th year of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program or CARP.
Records show that the Chapter has forty-eight (48) members in its fold.
Lagman expressed optimism that the pioneering outreach program will become a continuing tradition in the years to come.
The law which implements CARP was enacted on June 10, 1988 by former President Corazon Aquino through RA 6657. The CARP law intends to redistribute private and public agricultural lands to help the beneficiaries survive, thrive and excel as small independent farmers, regardless of the tenurial arrangement.
