Greenhouse facility in Bulacan to ensure all-year-round supply of high value crops
San Ildefonso, Bulacan. Members of three (3) agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) in the province of Bulacan stand to produce high-value and high-quality crops in any time of the year with the recent turn-over of a greenhouse facility.
Umpucan Palay and Vegetable Farmers MPC (UPVF-MPC), Masagana Producers Cooperative (MPC) and San Ildefonso Palay and Mango Growers MPC (SIPAMG-MPC), all in the town of San Ildefonso, are the beneficiaries of the facility.
The facility aims to help improve the lives of more than 500 agrarian reform beneficiary (ARB) –members, of whom 200 are women, by way of enhancing their productivity and increasing their income with the climate-resilient farm project now in their hands.
The greenhouse facility worth P1.5-million was acquired through the DAR’s Establishment of Enterprise-based Crop Nurseries with Greenhouse Facilities under its Sustainable and Resilient Agrarian Reform Communities (SuRe ARC) Project.
The implementation of this project was made possible with the technical assistance of Bulacan Agricultural State College particularly on the establishment of crop nursery, greenhouse facility, and conduct of agri-extension/technology training and technology adoption to the chosen ARBs.
“Sa ngalan ng San Ildefonso Palay and Mango Growers MPC at ng dalawa pang coop, Umpucan Palay and Vegetable Farmers MPC at Masagana Producers Cooperative, kami po ay lubos na nagagalak sa pagkakaloob sa amin ng greenhouse. Lubos ang aming pasasalamat sa DAR kasama ang Bulacan Agricultural State College bilang ka-partner ng programa”, Manuel Dizon, chair of SIPAMG-MPC, exclaims.
Leonila Peruel, manager of UPVF-MPC, also expressed her appreciation for choosing their cooperative as one of the recipients of the project. “Yung tulong na ginawa ninyo napakalaking bagay para sa mga magsasaka at maggugulay”.
“Ang amin pong plano ay magtuloy-tuloy ng pagpupunla ng magaganda at malulusog at dekalidad na mga seedlings na amin pong ibebenta sa mga magsasaka sa pagtutulungan naming tatlong kooperatiba”, Danilo Santos, MPC chair, added.
