Antique farmers receive drip irrigation facilities from DAR

ANTIQUE: The Department of Agrarian Reform-Antique turned over P1.35M worth of support facilities to 50 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARB) under 2 ARB Organizations on January 10, 2024 at Nagbangi I, San Remigio, Antique.

The Nagbangi I Agrarian Reform Cooperative and Nagbangi I Irrigators Association, both DAR-assisted organizations, received 2 units of Drip Irrigation facilities, training on high-value vegetable production, and provision of vegetable seeds and garden hose, reaching a total of P1,350,000-worth of support facilities.

The said support facilities, implemented under Climate Change Resilient Farm Productivity Support Program-Major Crop Based Areas, would enhance and sustain agricultural activity towards resiliency amidst the impact of climate change and help beneficiaries produce crops continuously, making their lands productive throughout the year.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Florentino D. Siladan, who led the turnover ceremony, said that the success of the project would not have been possible without the hard work and contributions of the local government unit and the ARBs. He also encouraged the beneficiaries to maintain the investments as he gave appreciation to the people behind it in accomplishing the project.

“The government will continue to invest in its people but it is our shared responsibility to make it a profitable source of income,” he said.

SuARPO Mary June B. Andres, on behalf Regional Director Atty. Sheila B. Enciso, said that the ARBOs are lucky to be among the recipients of the project as not all DAR-assisted organizations received this kind of opportunity. She likewise encouraged the organization to take care of the support facilities do that future generations would benefit from it.  

The representatives of each ARBO shared their gratitude towards DAR and LGU for the support given to them for their livelihood.

The event was attended by PARPO II Siladan, OIC-PARPO I Eileen Grace S. Zurita, SuARPO Mary June Andres, SARPO Arni B. Sumaylo, ABC President Bernie Fortin, Members of Nagbagi I Agrarian Reform Cooperative and Nagbangi I Irrigators Association, and DAR Antique personnel.
