The Records Management Audit Team (RMAT) of the Department of Agrarian Reform Region 1 (DAR) conducted a thorough two-day audit of the DAR Pangasinan Provincial Office's records management system on February 13-14, 2024.

The audit aimed to assess the current state of record-keeping within the Department, raise awareness about record management best practices, and ensure the safeguarding, protection, and preservation of DAR's record holdings. The audit aligns with the provisions of RA 9470 or the National Archives Law of the Philippines, and the current administration's commitment to good governance.

The RMAT-Region 1 team, led by DARRO1 Records Officer Perlita Valdez, meticulously examined all aspects of record management across various divisions, including Land Tenure Services, Legal Assistance, Program Beneficiaries Development, and Support to Operations. Their focus centered on the processes of record creation, storage, retrieval, and disposal within each division.

Joining the audit team were member-auditors from DAR Provincial Offices and DAR Regional Office 1, along with observers from the DAR Central Office.

The DAR Pangasinan Provincial Office, under the leadership of PARPO II Charlotte Lasmarias, expressed its commitment to continuous improvement and pledged to implement the audit's recommendations to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its records management system. This commitment ensures the accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of official records in the Office. (Miranda Dexter)
